Water Polo with Horses

Frankly speaking i have never been really excited about Singapore soccer. Although you can say i did like watching the old Malaysia cup when i was young mainly because homework was more painful. Then the match rigging spoiled most of soccer's impression in the region. Sad to say nothing much has changed. Singapore have hardly taken great strides after our triumphs, instead other countries have caught up with our not so world class bunch of players. The government wants us to join the World Cup in 2010 but look at the state of the Kallang pitch yesterday! Which brings me to the point of the 2nd leg semi final between Singapore and Myanmaar. In the rainy waterlogged conditions, Singapore went two nil down and were going to be eliminated if that scoreline held. Then a Myamaar player got a second yellow card and was sent off, which to me, looked like a innocuous mistimed tackle because of the wet pitch. Singapore duely capitalised from a kelong looking own goal. I cant say it was not forthcoming but for our 2 nigerian imports who looked sadly like they didnt deserve citizenship. Then Singapore won a penalty with another Myanmaar player sent off! Following which the Myanmaar team started protesting violently with their lost staring them in the face. A fracas broke out and one defender kicked mud at the officials and was sent off too. Myanmaar down to eight men and Indra Sahdan missed the penalty. In extra time stray elbows flew around and some Myanmaar players need to brush up on their acting skills. Their crowd also became unruly and had to be restrained. At least against 8 men Singapore plundered 3 goals in extra time to take us to the final. But that was after defender S Subrmani was hit by a flying water bottle thrown from the Myanmamese reserve goal keeper on the bench. He was also rightfully sent off. In his disgrace he also managed to taunt the Singapore supporters with 'stomach butts'. So that is why i didnt want to brave the rain and watch an action movie. Because i wanted to pay to watch sport.
