We should just use clones.
As a die hard soccer fan, the transfer speculation regarding which players are off to which clubs and all the REAL big money transfers are actually very intriguing to me. I know that i am not really weird and that many fans spend time to comment on the transfer rumours and which potential signings they really want and which they would rather just be fake.
I recently realised that skysports has this column where fans can put in their own transfer speculation. This is rather interesting to me because a lot of the people commenting here claim they have seen this or heard that. Whats really funny is that many say they know the groundsmen or the father of a player or they saw directors talking to other players. Its truly hilarious. I thought i would pick the first 7 that have "concrete evidence" and contrast them with the top 7 stories coming from the tabloids. At the end of the transfer months, lets see which of the mediums were actually more accurate.
From the people on the streets:
1.have heard from a very reliable source that John O'Sea is weighing up a move to Celtic.
2. David Healy will sign for Everton and not Fulham because the dad told me.
3. My cousin is a groundsman at Spurs and has seen Morten Gamst Pedersen on the ground with the deal that he will sign in the next 7 days.
4. Talking with my many sources, Jose Antonio Reyes will sign for Athletico Madrid and Arsenal will top up 6million for Torres.
5. Been told by an agent friend of mine that Giles Barnes will sign for West Ham for 3m + matty Etherington.
6. I have seen Phil Jagielka and Jason Koumas outside Bellefield training ground and they are going to sign for Everton in the next couple of days.
7. This is a winner -- i was on a flight back to spain from newcastle and i spoke with Roberto Carlos who said he has a desire to work with Big Sam in the premiereship at Newcastle.
The Tabloids say (Chose those that are not entirely confirmed):
1. Viduka has agreed in principle to join Newcastle.(likely according to them)
2. Djbrill Cisse is a loan target for Bolton.
3. Chelsea are to highjack the transfer of Daniel Alves.
4. West Ham are going to buy Tim Cahill from Everton.
5. Arsenal are to sign Auxerre's Bakari Sagna.
6. Sunderland have been given the green light to sign Celtic's Thomas Gravesen.
7. Bayern Munich are about to wrap up the deal to sign Franck Ribery.(likely too-- apparently!?!)
Abel's hypothesis is that both sides will do badly. Basically because although certain news may be true, this is just at the initial stage. The player may not be interested in moving to a particular club or the club he is currently at may not want to sell. It is only if the buying and selling party are both amicable that something will happen, and by then it would more and less be confirmed when we read about it anyway.
Conclusion: We soccer fans are wasting our times reading such news. But we already knew that anyway. Come on YOU SPURS!! Sign Ronaldinho and Thierry Henry!! =)
