Rant and Rave
I just wanted to comment on some things since i am now free with some time to write nonsense.
1. Ever realise how tetra paks of drinks are actually worse of with that pouring hole? You know the white plastic cover that acts as a pouring device on one side of the packet? Quite a long time ago you had to cut the packet on both sides by lifting up the flaps so that air can travel in and the water inside would not come out in "chunks". Now, with this new invention, you can pour the thing without having to cut any of the sides but the water always comes out in fists of splatter and blobs. I just think maybe we can be less lazy sometimes and just cut the sides to pour it in the first place. Although i guess you can argue that you cant drink from the packet unless you also had a pair of scissors, which makes it that much more convenient with the plastic hole.
2. The way people review movies is a load of rubbish. Everyone says movies are subjective; and no doubt they are. But shouldnt we all be trying to read less biased reviews then. Instead of having one silly, universal, final rating based on thousands of valid reasons; why not encompass different scales for different aspects of the movie? I mean Singaporeans are the foremost consumers of cinema screenings, isnt it about time the reviewers got slightly more intelligent? For instance, recent reviews of Transformers ranged from 4.5 stars to 2. The former found the nostalgia warm and fuzzy but the latter thought the plot weak and script lacking. Couldnt we split it up then? Heres my very summarised take on Transformers.
Overall i found it very entertaining and edge of your seat kind of thing. For CGI and action-packed sequences i give it 5/5. However, certain characters were terribly developed and some even seemed irrelevant. There were many loopholes in the plot as well. A lot of the lines were somewhat cheesy and catered mainly to audiences that loved Transformers cartoons when they were younger. If you are going to Transformers to be intellectually stimulated i would not recommend the movie at all.
I think Straits Times is on the right track by having a open ended category for their reviews: 'The one part in the movie that will justify the ticket price and another that will eject you from your seat' -- something to that effect. But seriously, everyone else is just changing the pictures of their scores/5. From normal stars to popcorn and guy yawning in a chair. I think its about time less superficial features were varied and more objectivity instilled.

ya, I agree with the tetra pack hole... the old ones had less spillage.
