Confusion is only in the mind.

I recently read the book "Travels in the Scriptorium" by Paul Auster. Who is definitely one of my most favourite authors.
I really liked the book and would give it i think 4/5 stars. Sunday fiction review on the 7th Jan gave it 3.
But its really a metaphysical use of language. I think the reviewer did very well to compare it with the movie Memento by Chris Nolan. Its kind of a confusing book where nothing really gets resolved. But its like the plot is the reader. If that makes sense.
However i think its a really interesting exploration of language. And its not overly depressing a storyline, so i thoroughly recommend it. Another plus point is that its only 130 pages long -- i read it in one sitting.
I think throughout the book any reader would find it very exiciting, but its only at the end that the readers can conclude if they really like what the author is trying to do or not. With a protagonist like Mr Blank and a title with the word "Scriptorium" do not expect it to be a normal work of fiction. Having said that, i highly recommend it for the sake of getting a different feel of what fiction can be.
